I am seeking any info on Sarah Thompson Young. I believe her maiden name was Cason. She is the mother of James Frazier Thompson and John Merritt Young. I am searching for any information regarding the family of Israel Hilton Buker, born 3 Feb 1827 in Muskingum Co., OH, died 26 Dec 1886 in Kansas, Edgar, IL, buried at Deer Creek (Van Vorhiiss) Cemetery, Hindsboro, Douglas, IL

In June 1880 he was living in Sargent Township with his family. I am especially in search of his obituary but would also like to get any information possible regarding his descendants. I know there were Buker's in Douglas County up until 1943 when Orren Edson Buker (Israel's son) died but I would also like to learn if there are any Buker's there now. I am looking for any info that I can find on my Grandmothers family. Her name was Vera Freeman and she had a brother by the name of Everett. Her parents names were William and Dora Freeman. My Grandmother was born on November 28,1912 in Newman,IL.   • Samuel Cowen - I am interested in a family that moved to Douglas County, Illinois about 1911. There was Samuel Cowen, Susan Fannie, Robert Wesley, age 3 in 1911, and Samuel Cowen, Jr., age 1. They lived in or near Fairland. While they lived in Douglas County, 2 more children were born, Rushen William, 1912; and Flossie Marie, 1916. Samuel Cowen, Jr. and Flossie Marie died while this family lived in Douglas County. Samuel Cowen and Susan Fannie divorced sometime in the early thirties. Susan Fannie married Daniel H.   • Henry Clay Carrico - I researching Henry Clay CARRICO, b: 8/28/1842, m: Almira Daggy 9/14/1869 to Almira Daggy, d: 10/5/1871. He was born in Terre Haute, Vigo Co., IN, married in Tuscola, Douglas Co., IL and died in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. Henry's parents were James William Carrico, b: Nelson Co., KY, d: Vigo Co., IN and Cynthia Evalyn St. Clair.

    His Civil War Record shows: Co. F, 5 Battallion (McClelland) TN CAV. Joined 8/14/1861 at Knoxville, TN. He joined for 12 months. Was also in Co. A, 1st Vol. CAV and Co. C, 14th IL CAV. He held the rank of Captain.

    Henry's home was in Tuscola, Douglas Co., IL. My husband was raised in Tuscola and knows there is still a Carrico Street which crosses Daggy Street. Is it possible the streets were named after Henry and Almira. They had no children.

  • Moss/Waggaman/Lyons - My Gr-GrGrandfather, John James MOSS, born in Mason Co., KY, 1828, was in IL (Coles Co) with his mother, Mary, and siblings before 1850. His father, only known as "I. Moss," was gone by the 1850 census, and Mary was 'head-of-household.' John James MOSS married Hannah Miranda WAGGAMAN about 1850 (after the census had been taken), and their children (7 girls) were all born in IL, presumably Douglas Co., based on the fact that the 4th and 5th daughters were born in Camargo, Douglas Co., and the family did not begin its trek to Iowa, Nebraska, and Okahoma until after they were all born, probably around 1868-1870. The daughters were Mary, Sarah(d. bef 1860), Rosella, Sarah Ellen, Laura Belle (my gr-grandmother), Martha May, and Harriet. If any of these names are familiar, I would appreciate hearing from you. The current issue with this family is finding the name of "I. MOSS" and death place, date.
